Outrage and Action - Who Deserves It?
I have kept my silence out of respect
but it is time to speak my mind.
Less than a day after Charlie Kirk’s murder,
there were consequences.
A visceral outpouring of grief and anger soared—
saturating all news media and social outlets.
Unlike “ordinary” gun violence, the attention did not dissipate.
Instead, the energy and urgency escalated.
Blame and hatred was hurled at “the Left.”
Educators, journalists, comedians,
lawyers, doctors, even policemen—fired.
Professed crackdown threatened on any
who dared to challenge his words.
Within days, free speech was muffled.
First Amendment rights vanished.
Total outrage for one man’s death.
And rightly so.
Gun violence always deserves outrage and action.
But I have to ask—
where is the outrage
for the countless young lives
lost in school shootings?
What consequences,
what actions for those kids
also viciously gunned down
even two weeks before Kirk’s death,
and on the very same day?
What laws have shifted
to shield the next child,
the next classroom?
Where are the gatherings of
95,000 patriots and politicians
to mourn and memorialize those children?
No grand speeches.
No vows.
No promises.
Nothing to stop the violence—
not for the children
or their grieving parents.
Is it because we did not witness it—
the live video of massacred,
limp, mutilated bodies bleeding out?
The children witnessed it—even if we didn’t.
No fanfare or legislative change
for those kids.
Nothing.
Just
hollow
empty
thoughts
prayers.
Call me an elitist,
evil leftist,
liberal,
woke,
too damn empathetic,
whatever you want.
But I believe…
Every school child
slaughtered by a gunman
deserves
the same outrage
the same mourning
the same celebration of their lives
the same swift action
as given to Charlie Kirk.
Aren’t their lives just as important?
Just as holy?

May they one day have the same justice as Charlie Kirk.
