Recognition
We woefully watch
as the color drains
from our landscapes.
What was once lush
is now drying up before our eyes.
What was once our home
is now being wiped out by fires
and hurricanes and rising rivers.
Despite, we go about our business
as if nothing is changing.
But it is. We all know it.
Recognition of this fact
is not despair—
it is the beginning of the solution.
